BEACH: Tranquebar
WHERE: Southern state of Tamilnadu, INDIA
WHY: It's name means "place of the singing waves". It was a Danish colony from 1620 to 1845, and in Danish it is still known as Trankebar. Worth visiting is the Danish Museum - connected with the colonial period and Danish settlement; and the remains of the Danish Fort from 1620, which has been restored.
