BEACH OF THE WEEK - SEYCHELLES

Takamaka, Seychelles

Each week The Beach Company brings you one of the best beaches in the world as our beach of the week. This week’s best beach is this beautiful piece of paradise on the Seychelles’ second-biggest island.

BEACH: Anse Takamaka, Praslin, the Seychelles

WHERE: Praslin, the Seychelles’ second-largest island, is probably what you’re picturing whenever your daydreams wander to being on a beach: soft white sands, coco de mer palm trees and turquoise waters. It’s not Photoshopped, we promise – this is just how it looks. Floating in the Indian Ocean, 1800 kilometres from the east coast of Africa and 4 degrees south of the Equator, Praslin is enough to make you want to give it all up and call yourself a castaway.

WHY: This stretch of sublime is directly in front of the hotel with dedicated service from Raffles and is pretty much a cosy ménage-a-trois of you, the Seychellois sun and the crystalline Indian Ocean. In the unlikely event that you tire of sand-lounging, take to the water where you can kayak, sail or snorkel over the impressive coral reefs.

HOW: A fifteen-minute plane journey from the Seychelles’ main island of Mahé, once you touch down on Praslin, your holiday has begun – allow a luxury car to collect you and you’ll be beachside in half an hour.

H2O TONE: Peacock feather blue

SAND TONE: Crème de coco

STAY: At Raffles Praslin, in one of its luxury villas hiding amid the lush palm trees overlooking the beach and ocean waters. As if being that close to the sea in your own private villa (with your own private plunge pool) wasn’t already living the dream, each villa has its own personal butler to lend a hand with anything you may need, whether that’s organising a day trip to another island, or bringing you a banana split in your room – although with ice-cream brought to your room, who’d ever leave the resort, never mind the island?

WHEN: The Seychelles are lucky enough to enjoy a warm climate all year long, with temperatures between 24 and 32 degrees so pack up and head off whenever the fancy takes you – now, perhaps?
